From her time at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto studying under John William Beatty, Mildred Thornton was highly influenced by the work of Tom Thomson who became her favourite artist. This watercolour, painted in 1926 while Mildred was pregnant with her twins, was painted on a trip to Algonquin Park, Ontario.
