Miniature French Brittany Breton carved bonnetiere armoire cabinet. The term “bonnetiere” comes from these 18th and 19th century cabinets that were used for elaborate ladies’ bonnets and linens. The design was influenced by the Celtic roots of the Brittany region of France, which was heavily dependent on fishing. The carvings are noted for including spindled ship’s wheels patterns and turnings. French, circa 1900.
